The offices of County Obstetrics and Gynecology are located in four area towns: New Haven, Branford, Madison and Wallingford. The physicians are available on a rotating basis throughout all of our locations. Our physicians are on staff at Yale-New Haven Hospital. They each have a faculty appointment at Yale University School of Medicine and are active on the teaching staff. All of our physicians are Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
County Ob/Gyn offers comprehensive healthcare for women. We specialize in the problems and issues of women’s health and we evaluate and manage a wide variety of health problems and conditions. Gynecological and obstetrical problems, minor or major, are capably handled. We offer current contraceptive options, counseling for pregnancy and infertility, gynecological and obstetrical ultrasound studies, pregnancy testing, and both perimenopausal and menopause management. In addition, Urogynecologic studies are done in our office to assess bladder function. Our physicians are skilled at general and laparoscopic gynecologic surgery.
Annual examinations are a significant part of preventative health care for women over the age of eighteen. County Ob/Gyn encourages these routine, yet very important, examinations. The doctors also specialize in complete obstetrical care. From the confirmation of your pregnancy and prenatal exams through the birth of your baby and postnatal checkups, we offer up-to-date supportive care.
In addition to our eight physicians, County Ob/Gyn employs 4 Certified Nurse Midwives. Carol Brekus-Watson, CNM, Michelle Plyler, CNM, Lucy O’Connell, CNM, and Joanie Messner, CNM, who are fully trained in women’s health and provide our patients with supportive labor management and office-based care for both obstetrical and gynecological needs.
They evaluate, diagnose and prescribe the proper measures for most women’s health concerns. Patient education is provided at the onset of pregnancy. Diet, nutrition, exercise, breast-feeding and childbirth classes are among the many topics covered during the initial visit.
